STUDIO UPDATE - FALL 2022

Detail from the final iterations of You Are Not Alone Across Time.

Who here has had a weird summer? ✋🏻 Just me??

If you had told me three years ago that I would be spending July of 2022 working on a farm, camp counseling for young kids and not going into my studio for several weeks, I would have laughed in your face. Crazy enough, that has been my past July…

Life can take us into some weird places if we choose to let it. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes not. This past summer— really this past year— has been a huge eye-opener for me both in my creative practice and in my overall life. I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to say that this summer has been my toughest one yet. When I go back and read my previous studio updates, I feel like I’m stuck in this broken record loop of a life. Every season feels rough. Nothing has felt stable for a while and making space for pursuing my creative practice is getting trickier and trickier.

Anyone else feel that with me? Has it always been this way and I just never saw it?

Before I get carried away in my feels, I promise it hasn’t all been bad. I have some really loving hearts in my corner that help to bring me out of my pit. I can’t extend my gratitude enough to them. It won’t be like this forever. I will find consistent joy again.

Which leads me to steer this post away from the shores of a life update and direct us all into the promise of a studio update! My vibe for August in RESET. Reset my heart. Reset my creative practice. Reset my goals.

I fiiiiiinally finished the new iteration of You Are Not Alone Across Time.

You Are Not Alone Across Time, 2022

This work has been a huge lesson in patience and gave me the opportunity to lean into the sentiment of this work. Despite all of the heaviness that has come up in my life over the past several months, I clung to the word that I am not alone across time. Someone, somewhere in some time has been in my place. And they made it through. I can too. You can read more about the initial inspiration behind this work in my shop .

I forced myself to finish this piece before moving on to new work. Now that it’s finished, I’m doing some brainstorming/listening and am so excited to get a new body of work started. I’ve also got some printed products I’m looking to launch this quarter. Stay tuned!

Sneak peek at the new body of work that is currently unfolding!

If you’ve made it this far, you are amazing and a kind soul. 💕

For those who’ve also felt like you’ve been in a pit these past few months (or years), know that we’re gonna make it out. I truly believe that as we move forward, our pits won’t feel as deep. If we can find equilibrium and joy now, we can do it again. And again. And again. You got this.

Stay golden and hopeful, my friends.
