Needlepoint felt like something I fell into by accident.
The more I think about it, the more I don’t think that’s totally true.
It was inevitable. Fated perhaps. As with most textile crafts, they all fit into and around each other. Each fiber craft is a gateway into yet another fiber craft.
I knew a little about needlepoint, but was only aware of some of the more traditional, very expensive, stitch-it-and-put-it-on-a-pillow versions of needlepoint. Absolutely no shade to my needlepoint purists out there! It just wasn’t my style.

Until I saw the call for Feral Notion’s Needlepoint House Purse Stitch-a-long. Wait . . . you can make 3-dimensional quirky things with needlepoint? Like a purse that looks like a house? Are you kidding me??!
I was a goner then and there. Through the construction of the house purse (and deep dives into other needlepoint rabbit holes), I learned about patterns, stitch traditions, the possibilities of 3-dimensional structures through this craft. Most of all, I learned that I loved needlepoint.
This love was inevitable. Because what I love most and what I strive to do in my creative practice is take unassuming materials and transform them into something striking. Who knew that with a little bit of plastic mesh canvas, some yarn, and a heap of imagination, something exciting could come to be.

I’m now on a mission to create needlepoint patterns and kits for folks like me who may have overlooked this medium. Approachable patterns that are a lil’ fun, maybe a lil’ silly– needlepoint for the party people.
I’m bolstering up my roster of patterns and kits as we speak with my first intro to needlepoint kit available now. I’ve also got a cutie lil’ Free Floral Stitch Pattern you can find in my Needlepoint Tutorial video library.
Patterns on the horizon include my Mailbox Series (mailbox purse, anyone??) and more! I can’t wait to grow this library and keep inviting folks into the party that is needlepoint.
