IN THE STUDIO - REIMAGINE
I’ve been meditating on the word “reimagine” for the past couple of months. What a beautiful word. A lovely invitation.
Spending time reimagining all sorts of spaces in my life has inevitably started manifesting itself in the studio in all new ways. What does it look like to reimagine loop and cut pile? What does it look like to push the boundaries of what constitutes foundation cloth? Can I create movement not just in the contrast of high and low texture, but in the way the cloth is shaped? This experiment showed me new methods that I can approach my work and to think outside box.
This big, sculptural wave has created a new world for me. One I still have a bit to learn about. Do I display it on the wall? On the floor? This buddy is kinda heavy and a bit too much for my studio magnets….so for now, it interacts with the floor.
I can imagine a whole room remade with huuuuge sculptural waves similar to this one. Maybe one day I’ll be able to explore that. For now, I’ll stare at this beauty in the studio and let it inspire projects to come!
Keep broadening those imaginations, friends.
